The mechanism is inhibiting the release of excitatory amino acid glutamate and aspartate through stimulating GABA receptor. Thus reduce the increased limbs muscle tension caused by spinal cord lesions, multiple sclerosis, and spinal cord injury. It can be used for treatment of muscle spasms caused by brain and spinal cord diseases or injuries.
