This oxidant is useful for the dehydrogenation of alcohols, phenols, and steroid ketones in organic chemistry. DDQ decomposes in water, but is stable in aqueous mineral acid. 2,3-Dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone CAS:84-58-2 can be used as a selective oxidant and analytical reagent for organic compounds. The appearance is bright yellow solid. It also called DDQ. 2,3-Dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone CAS:84-58-2 is a bright yellow to orange yellow crystalline powder with slight odor. It is a black shiny crystal in benzene.
