Potassium cyanate is a White Crystalline Powder.Hard to dissolve in water, slightly soluble in ethanol. It becomes potassium cyanamide and carbon dioxide when it is heated at high temperature and isolated from air. It is commonly used in organic synthesis and pharmaceuticals and as a herbicide. It can be prepared by reacting potassium cyanide with lead oxide.
